EQUIPMENT QUALIFICATIONS

1. Tractors can be no more than 10 (ten) years old.* They must be three-axle, diesel-powered, sleeper cab conventional. (Some exceptions may apply.)
   
   
2. Full of fuel and all equipment, weight cannot exceed 20,500 lbs. (19,900 lbs. without equipment; ability to scale at 48,000 lb.)
   
   
3. Fifth wheel height cannot exceed 50".
   
   
4. Wheel base cannot exceed 265".
   
   
5. Stack height cannot exceed 13'4".
   
   
6. Must have DOT approved headache rack. (Headache rack must withstand a load of 48,000 lbs).
   
   
7. Must have own tarps and equipment. (If you need to rent from Melton, tarps are $12 a week, equipment is $13 a week, or both tarps & equipment can be rented for $25 a week.)
   
   
8. Must have Qualcomm bracket installed prior to orientation. ($12.40 per week usage charge.) Bracket can be purchased from Melton if needed.
   
   
9. Must have current DOT inspection sticker and be able to pass the same.
   
   
10. Must have a clean, undamaged physical appearance and be approved by Melton Truck Lines, Inc.
    
    

* Once leased on, the ten (10) year age limit on tractors is waived providing the equipment's appearance and mechanics are properly maintained.
